Aero (driver) seat musings...clues, please ?? Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Sat, 27 Oct 2018 17:41:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Now that I got the '97, when the time comes to switch cars I'll need to resolve some seat & cover issues mostly revolving around the driver's seats.
Please bear with me as I try to describe my concerns here...:
'94 Aero (my daily driver presently):
Driver's seat had a bad controller so I swapped another in that works, but=>
Its stuffing has gotten pretty well pulverized over time & it has 1 or 2 split seams.
I covered it with a high back cloth cover, then added a 2nd when the 1st got too loose.
The cloth is a nuisance as it needs to be pulled into place about every time I get in or out.
'97 Aero (replacement car):
Spent lots of its life in a hot, dry climate with zero leather care & the cover is cracking; also, the controller, motors or ?? are only intermittently functioning.
I also have a CSE parts car with regular seats that may have good motors, etc., but its been very long since I looked, so that's iffy.
My 1st seat concern is keeping the (real) leather surface and possibly re-covering it somehow, so I've searched for leather covers & only find the fake & semi-fake (PU) covers...not good.
So I'm considering if & how I may be able to combine seat parts from the 2 Aeros to somehow get ONE totally decent driver's seat out of the deal.
I do not care a'tall about the colours; my goal is to have a mostly working, whole seat that will possibly outlast my old self.
Another specific question I'd appreciate getting (re ?) answered if possible:
Is there a manual way to adjust the electric seats with a crank or something ??
I'll greatly appreciate any pointers, education or sources for stuff to accomplish my goals here.
Thanks for any helpul replies.
