My longtime Saab mechanic Rod Beckner got my car in and said, "The clutch master was sticking and bypassing fluid internally intermittently. Bleeding would have helped but I replaced it and adjusted the position of it. Lubing the many pivot points was needed too. Working perfectly now." According to my records, the old Master was 8 years old. Car went about 55K since then.
Thanks to everyone for their generous advice!
