When I replaced my condenser about 7 years ago I ultimately wound up replacing everything in the AC system except the evaporator and the expansion valve. (The valve I bought from Eeuroparts didn't work so I cleaned the original and put it back in.) I figured with nearly 300,000 miles that it was best to replace as much as possible.
I installed a brand-new UAC #8052C aftermarket compressor which has worked great. (Original was Sanden.) At the time I purchased the compressor from eBay for about $125, but that was years ago and I don't know current availability or pricing. A quick search of eBay and Amazon for that UAC number did not bring up the correct part, but it is still listed in the UAC online catalog at uacparts.com.
My AC is still working well except the aftermarket condenser fan installed back then basically disintegrated (fan blades shattered and broke off) and the fan motor seized up a couple of years ago, so I disconnected it. I have a replacement condenser fan to put in but have not gotten a round tuit yet since it's a PITA job. The AC works pretty much OK without it but does get marginal in stop-and-go traffic on a sunny 90+ degree day.
