Right that. I opened it up and found that it wasn't connected at all. I don't use the key fob at all and now have no problems with the car. Battery charges and nothing drains.
I replaced the alternator and all is well again. No doubt the pressing of the trunk release on the key fob triggered something really strange. The alarm module gets set off and we can't reset it. I can live without the fob. This is on a '97 9K CSE with 220K on it. I still love the car and can'tfind anything that duplicates its practicality or hp. Where do people go after the 9K, I wonder? I've been test driving Chevy Volts, Lexus 250H, Lexus 200CT and Accord EX-L's. None of them dare practical despite their remarkable technology. As a musician and high school music teacher I need the hatch to carry all kinds of things - saxophones, amps, sometimes drum kit. What other car can fit an upright bass into it or a GE Profile 30in Width refrigerator? Love this car.
