Thanks, the vehicle in question is in Eastern Canada where there is little support for a 9000. The long-time owner has tried the laundry listed previously mentioned and has monitored the O2 sensors. I challenged him with the idea that without codes, running well and with the parts already replaced there may not be anything wrong with it but he knows the 9000 well and has another one to compare the bore and plug condition with. I also find it odd that a 1996 OBD2 compliant vehicle would not throw a code if running too lean but the owner indicates that the condition of the bore and valves indicates an excessively lean and hot condition. So far the cooling system has handled the excessive heat and he lives in a cooler climate to boot. Just throwing a lifeline out there in case someone also dealt with this beguiling problem in the past. I brought to his attention a few ideas from reviewing the archives but he seems to have covered all those bases to his satisfaction.
