I finally got around to playing around, while I have Robert's gauge.
Here's a recap of some events on my aero.
1. Last week shortened the wastgate rod a few turns, (base boost about 7 psi- ) on my dash gauge, about 2o'clock in the yellow zone with BPC unplugged. Max boost about 15 psi, but only occasionally.
2. Friday, My wastegate clip falls off (I knew I should have been a little more anal) And I put it back together (and losing the relative positioning of the rod, as the lock nut didn't hold the position.
3. Now I have lower base boost (1 oclock on gauge maybe 6psi) BUT - I have much higher peak boost. Where I used to hit 15 psi (solid red beginning on my dash gauge) I now can actually squeel tires in 2nd gear, as the boost shoots up to 18 psi , (almost to the end of the red) then comes back down and steadies at a solid 15 psi and holds it). I even have some mild torquesteer. I can also ride the car in higher gears, as the engine is much less likely to "lug" at lower (1400) rpms. Maybe this is how my Aero was supposed to work!?
