Help me with an oil leak.

In prepping the 91 9kt for sale <snif> I want to deal with a minor but ugly oil leak.

At first I thought it was the oil filter leaking around its gasket, but now I think it has something to do with that whole base or flange that the filter and plumbing for the turbo/cooler all attach to.

Before I try tightening the turbo/cooler plumbing by a 1/1000th of a turn, are there any known vulnerabilities in this area?

The leak is significant, about 3/4 quart per month, and is not one of those overnight leakers. (In other words, it doesn't seem to continue or get worse when the car is sitting. My 900 tranny leaked from the front, lowest bolt, and leaked much MUCH worse when shutdown)

There is a mess of oil and road dirt glued around this flange, there are traces of dampness on the UNDERSIDE of the oil-pipe that goes into the turbo, and a pretty clear drip-formation on the oil pipe that leaves on the down-side of this flange heading towards the cooler.

The traces of oil I see on the oil-level sensor are, I believe, wind-carried drips from this leak.

So, anything common don there? Did a previous owner bash that lower pipe onto the ground? (No sign of damage) Do the fittings work loose, so a tiny increase in torque (the above mentioned fraction of a turn) make this all go away? Or am I poring BarsLeak into the crancase?!!

I'll put up an ad in the classified section soon: any readers here in the Chicago Area will know all about the car: it's been my second favorite SAAB of the 7. (None will replace my V4 Sonett!)
