The motor mount doesn't have to be removed, but the bracket that connects the motor mount to the engine has to be removed which is just as much trouble as removing the motor mount. Support the bottom oil pan with a jack with a piece of wood and remove the bracket. The dipstick tube is jammed onto an aluminum fitting that attaches to the sump with an allen head capscrew. There is an o-ring that attaches to the aluminum fitting that seals it in the sump.

2 hours labor is a little high, but not outrageous. It would be difficult to do in less than an hour.

What does the break look like? Is it a split or is it a fracture around the circumference? If it is a split, you could possibly reverse ends on the tube and use some hose and hose clamps on the top to keep air from leaking in. Bear in mind that 12 year old plastic exposed to oil can be brittle, and you may end up replacing the whole thing anyway.

You could try replacing the plastic tube with hose, but it can't be heater hose because of the exposure to oil. EGR hose would be OK if you could find the right size. You would have to use hose clamps on both ends to keep it from popping off.

A junk yard or somebody parting out a car could probably provide the part for less than $80.
