those kind of folks out there. You may be wise to gather up the pieces and serch out some one else. Where are you anyway? near a large city? if so look for a precision machine shop and take the head there have it inspected and an estimate for resurfacing resurfacing a head is a RMS measurement. if the RMS measurement is 0.015 then that isn't too bad. a head will torque 0.004-5 RMS and a good machine shop can set it up to get a flat torquable head. The cams do not allow more that this because of the bearings. if you can get the head done I think there are enough experience here to get you through the work and you will learn an awful lot of DIY in the process. Tools will be a little problem at first but these can be bought with the labor you will save if you want to do this. Let us know what you decide. Actually Haynes book is pretty good with this type repair. If you know any thing about engine work, the Saab is just another engine. There isn't anything difficult or strange here. Probably the trickiest part is installing the new chain and getting things timed correctly. but that is covered I believe in Haynes. Hang in there- this may become a project for you - have you got another ride?
