I have the samee problem but I also have lost 4th in drive. I think its somthing to do with the govnor or the govnor seals but as yet I have not had the time to take the box appart. I am wondering how hard it is the release the lagre ali bush that needs to be pulled to get to access the govnor seals ? anybody done this. It says to heat with a hot air gun, we have all done a job that needs to be heated and it all sounds so simple untill you try it and you jat cant get it hot enough. My garage is full of usless things like kids bikes etc.so I have to do my work on the drive so keeping a high tem is not easy. If I was to drive the car to operating temp would it still be hot enough, so I can extract the bush, by the time I got all the other parts out ?

It could also be somthing to do with the absolute zero sensor. To engage reverse y there is a sensor that has to see that you are at a stndstill. If it thinks your still moving, even just slightly, it wont engage also check the kick down caBLE. I checked mine and noticed that it was not in good condition, never the less it dint solve the problem but I have been told if the kick down cable is not correctly adjusted it can cause all sorts of problem. Take a look at the transmision docs @ townsendimports.com......... they have a diag flow chart for the 9000 auto box.

Have fun & let me know how you get on.

Mark

Thanks for any help
