I respectfully disagree with Bare on this issue. The NEWER camry (1997-2001) is functionally equal in safety to the 9000. The older model (pre '97) is definitely less safe. The Saab 9000 is STATISTICALLY one of the safest cars ever made. (The 9-5 is even safer). Since the 9000 was released it has contiuously proven itself to be superlative in the realm of passenger protection.
"Star" safety ratings are meaninless by themselves (go to crashtest.com and look up the Ford Escort 91-93: it got five stars passenger/driver for frontal collision, but is it a "safe" car? NOT AT ALL!!).

Otherwise, I agree that the Camry is absolutely more reliable in the long run. However, does the Camry have such a comprehensive and supportive online community? I don't really know, but I would assume that it doesn't.
The Saab 9000 is a true drivers car. I don't THINK my 1991 9000 is "sporty," I have a nice 244ft/lbs of torque available at 2000rpms that PROVES it, every time I step on the gas. Plus I get 29mpg on the highway. And it will seat five adults comfortably, and it has 56cu. ft. of cargo space with the seats down, and the seats are superbly comfortable, and it still turns heads everywhere... etc. etc. etc.
For a 22 year old who spent $4900 six months ago on the car of my dreams, I DARE anyone to try and convince me that there is a beter car out there for the money. I LOVE IT!!!

Sorry for ranting...
