I measured the hooter valve opening pressure (vacuum), and it turned out to be 200 mbar (the valve starts to pass). This is about 2 mm left from the zero position on the stock boost gauge. So, the hooter valve is open under cruising conditions, letting the compressor "free wheel". I also measured the positive pressure in the BPC W-line, and it was around 200 mbar under cruising, the boost gauge well into vacuum. This means, that some of the exhaust gases are bypassing the turbo under cruising. You who understand all this better, does these observations contribute to the super mileage our saabs are returning when cruising (33MPG (US))? No energy is wasted to turn the turbo just for preheating the intake charge..... when no boost is needed.

I also removed and thoroughly cleaned the AIC valve, was a bit dirty (sticking under some conditions). No time for a drive yet, but the car idles perfect now. I removed the intake rubber elbow and some of the wire harness (DI, temp sender etc) to get more room and the work was very easy.
