fuel Injection wake up....74 EMS Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Wed, 12 Mar 2014 19:42:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm waking up a 74 EMS that has been under cover since 2004. Wasn't stored as much as parked, but its in pretty good shape. Of course, the OE fuel pump is long since dead, and I have fabricated/grafted a pump from a 7 series BMW and have replaced the injectors with those from an XJS Jaguar. Fuel tank drained using a siphon pump. Starts up, but runs poorly. Questions are: 1. what direction should fuel flow from cyl 1 to 4 or from 4 to 1. Since it is a mechanical Fuel pressure regulator, am I correct in concluding that it should bleed off pressure by sending it down the line and not restricting pressure like on a carb style set up? Have referenced the Haynes (not bad) Autopress (not real useful) and Clymer (I put my reading glasses on for this?)
2. Any hints on getting a stronger signal to the injectors? Noid light is really weak, but its there. Cleaned the trigger points in the dizzy and its a little better, but still runs poorly/randomly/ no power. A squirt of carb cleaner past the throttle plate smooths things out for a bout 10 sec, so I'm thinking its a fuel side issue?
3. Tach does not work...
Appreciate ANY help..
