I had those issues as well Brently.
Most of them were addressed when I disconnected the car battery, cleaned with a brass brush, and applied dielectric grease to the connectors under the fuse block.
It was time consuming and tedious (You don't want to cross wires!) but electrically I have had no issues after the car sitting for a couple years.
This really only buys some time until you convert to a newer style block :-)
Also be sure to get behind the dash and clean and grease all grounding points.
Best of luck
Chuck
