A hook with a substantial wire or steel rod with a loop or knob handle to reach the lever on the car's left side of the socket mounted in the cross member of the radiator will work, its even detailed in the SAAB shop manuals & Bentley reprints. I has to be long enough to reach from as far left as you can get through the top louvers of the grille. With a good light you can follow the pull cable & sheath to the lever/bellcrank. When you have it released extract the cable as much as possible, form a funnel of tape & plastic around the sheath, suspend it as vertically as possible & drool Liquid wrench or similar through the funnel & into the cable, check the low end periodically to see when it drools through. Protect the carpet, etc. Will take some time. Old motorcycle trick though not as easy. i have seen cables for 900's on eBay.
