1976 99 GL. My home-made tool did the job and the pump is out. All the rubber looks great. The strainer is the type with the small feed hole. The strainer has split so that the bottom was sitting on the bottom of the tank. I was able to fish it out with long needle nose pliers. There is a strainer pad of some type which was just sitting in the bottom half of the stainer. Everything looks really good for 50 years old. Dirty but not gummed up.

The pump is Bosch 0 580 254 978.

I have some questions about what to do next about the strainer.

Can these 2 pieces be snapped back together? Why would they separate? Can I reuse the strainer material, if not, has anyone sourced a replacement?
