Brently, You've most likely realized to go to relays and fuses first. You need to on these 99's. I stripped out quite a few "non-running" 99's that were freebies. By spraying the fuse box with contact cleaner, and R&R'ing the relays and also spraying the sockets, they all started up. If something won't shut off again, go to the relays and simply feel them...before the stuck contact burns out completely, it will be warm...a quick hard tap may buy you some time until a replacement can be obtained. A friend of mine just had a major wiring harness meltdown on his '93 900 caused by a stuck relay from a hack Lojack install from many years ago. It was wired in wrong, making it a time bomb if the relay did in fact ever stick. Not related, but on my mind...we just finally fixed it. If you had an earlier, pre-75, I would have suggested the relay immediatly. There isn't a good ground on those on the starter relay. A simple fix for those years is to add a short grounding wire over to the main fuse box ground. That's a good one to know if you ever take the plunge into the world of D-jets.
