If the 4 speed tranny is the one that came with the 99 (of what ever year)then it should mate up to the H engine. But, didn't the H engine come with a 5-speed? The big issue is how to install an H engine in a 99. I did it once and it amounted to "1001 easy steps to an H installation". Adapting a 5 speed is the easy part (and well worth it). the H installation is another matter. Reno Karl
