Though my 67 95 has recently been slipping second and third gear once in a while in the past couple months, the scarcity of the occurrence hasn't really made it much of an issue. Well, today after having driven it around town a bit, I lost third entirely. Then about a minute later, first. Then I got it home, thank god. The transmission was rebuilt by Bud Clark less than a year ago. Don't know how much it was driven around before I got it - not much I think. I then picked it up in Portland, drove it to Seattle, then all the way home to SF. It's been my daily driver since, having made many four round trips to Sacramento, and just reliably getting me to work.
Any thoughts? Is this the tranny, tranny mounts, clutch? Blegh. I have some pretty good peeps here, but thought I'd ask all you vets to get as much info as possible. I could feel that the shifter was just barely shy of really being where it should be in third, but it wasn't going any further. I couldn't get it near where it needed to be for first. It would just stick about 3/4 of the way, then jarringly pop out of gear. Second seemed fine for the moment, and I was on side streets so didn't get it near fourth.
Thanks guys!! There are some pics of the car here on the front page of embarcaderoauto.com and yes, I've reversed the reversed front grill chrome and the upside down rear bumper!! The seller even hooked me up with some nice air plane logo mudflaps unfortunately not seen in these photos.
