I'm a newbie to the vintage Saab world with a 1966 96 2-stroke that had been sitting in a field for 35 years. I am trying to get it running, driving, and stopping bit by bit. I noticed that when it runs (very rough at this point because the distributor lock screw is stripped and the timing moves around) it spits fuel out of the top of all three carbs. I'm new to 2-strokes, but this seems like something bad. My first though was piston ring blow by was pressurizing the bottom end and forcing air back out of the intake. However I did a compression test and got 122-120-115 psi (front to rear). I need to rebuild the carbs but I was wondering if anyone knows what may be causing this problem.
Also does anyone have recommendations foe good carb gasket kits. I saw a video where Tom Donney recommended David Baugher but I'm not sure if he's still selling kits.
