Where did you come up with this gross misinformation? Please site one source to verify this statement. I recommend that you go take a look at the Tire Tech section at http://www.tirerack.com, or at any tire manufacturer's web site. Better yet, go out and test your comments on the road using the wider tires.
The car interacts with the road through the contact patches that the tires make with the asphalt. The bigger the contact patch, the better the performance--ALL aspects of performance including acceleration, braking, and roadholding. The speedo error is about 1.4% so when your speedometer indicates 100 mph you'll actually be going 101.4 mph which is entirely inconsequential. The stock 7.5" Viggen rims actually mate better to a 225 than to a 215 and the tires offer much better rim protection.
