I had this same problem on my (classic?)'99 9/3 last year. every time I hit a bump or change in pavement surface, the suspension creaked from the rear (kind of at the front corner of the hatchback). I took it to my dealer, and we can hear the noise by just opening the trunk and pushing down on the car. The tech there took my rear suspension apart and didnt *see* anything wrong and couldnt reproduce the noise (I get a call saying my car is ready).... So he put it back together in the afternoon and test drove it but the noise was still there... Again he takes apart the suspension (I get a call saying they'll keep the car overnight and they have to loan me a 9/5 with the HOT, manumatic tranny and vented seats... DARN). SO in the end, it turns out that the bushing on the top part of the suspension assembly [I don't know the technical name for the part] gets stiff and sticks a bit when it tries to move thus making the noise. The tech thought he'd have to order a new one, but was able to essentially just break it loose, lube it up, retighten it, and bling... all fixed. I've had no problems since. GOOD LUCK!
Nate
