Do you think you might want to drive to Sacramento?
...just kidding.
I had the knob break on my 99 9-3 at about 30k miles. I took it to Sacramento Saab/Jaguar. Although I already know about the heater box problem from this site, the dealer went out of their way to inform me that they usually replace the heater box and to expect a 6-8 hour wait.
It even says on the invoice.
"Replaced control knob, greased ditribution drum, Tested functionality -unsatisfactory, replaced heater control box, functions better than new after replacement"
Those arent exact words, but pretty close.
Im glad they didnt give me the run around. I was expecting to have to bargain with them, but they did a great job.
Im so disappointed to hear of your misfortune! SAAB should be above playing games and band-aid fixes till warrantees expire.
