Thanks for the response czar.
I haven't performed any scheduled maintenance as such (last was 50 K miles). I have replaced timing belt and necessary items as and when required, much before failure of the item though. I own a 1999 9_3 with 83 K miles on it. I have replaced a DI cassette, compressor and few other things in my car so far, luckily most of them were under warranty/ extended warranty.
The idle is rough, but the engine never dies. It always maintians the required RPM. Like I said its rough and sputters. Doesn't purr as it used to before. I use 89 octane for my car (can never get the number right but its the mid level). I get the best mileage when I use this. I use synthtic oil each time though.
I haven't changed the fuel filter in a while now. I did get a vacuum leak near throttle valve fixed a few months ago. Apparently this was why I was getting a "fuel cap loose" error.
