My '98 900S, purchased December 1997, is Midnight Blue Metallic. It has close to 185K miles. The finish of the majority of the car is still excellent with no signs of significant finish degradation on the original finish, especially considering it is an 8 year old car that has sat outside most of its life. Interestingly, a pickup truck backed into the front of the car when it was two weeks old. The hood and one front fender were replaced and painted at that time. The front edge of the hood and the one replaced front fender are pock-marked with paint chips. The other, original font fender has only one paint chip. The finish on the remainder of the car still cleans up very nicely, with just a little acid rain etching on the roof clear coat.
The car was used for 2.5 years in the West Virginia mountains with a fair amount of snow and road salt. It has spent the remaining years in the hot, Atlanta sun.
