A couple of days ago while driving to work there was a loud noise coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment that sounded like the serpentine belt coming undone (ask me how I know that sound). I was trapped in bumper to bumper traffic and could do nothing but listen and watch the temperature gauge. Anyway, the gauge stayed in the middle and after about five minutes (felt like much longer) the noise stopped. When I got to my destination I checked and saw that the edge of the serpentine belt had detached all the way around but the rest of the belt itself was still in place. I drove it home (flames begin) that way and removed the belt. The idler pulley spins freely, so I ordered a Wazee to replace it. I also noticed that the power steering pulley could be moved in an out a bit, maybe a half an inch. So, my question is, do I also need to replace the power steering pump or is this ok?
