I forgot to mention that I am also considering putting an expanding type plug in and installing an inline type block heater between the engine and heater core.
My main concern is that coolant flow wil be impeded and this will create hot spots. There isn't much room inside the block, as the plug doesn't have much room to wiggle around in there.
Also, I am not ure if there are compatibility issues with the inline type heater and the heating system of the car.
