First, the disclaimer: Saab does not recommend doing this.
Second: Bulb distributor recommended going this way as opposed to xelon/halogen.
Try Over wattage bulbs: H4 80/100 halogens (not DOT legal). Cost = approx $15.00 + shipping.
Current bulbs (55/60) draws 4.583/5.0 amps per bulb, x 2 = 9.1/10 amps total.
Headlight circuit is fused for 20 amps.
Over Wattage (80/100) draws 6.66/8.33 amps per bulb, x 2 = 13.32/16.66 amps total.
80/100 do a nice job of providing plenty of low beam light without the dark spots. High beams provides more of telescoping narrow beam.
SAAB wiring better handle at least 20 amps, otherwise the wiring would melt before the fuse would blow.
Anybody care to comment?
