The 15" long snorkle tube in the stock air box is a helmholtz resonator. It is a low pass filter. If you remove that you will hear more turbine whine. But just removing it is not good enough. It will get hot air from under the hood, and the air pressure losses are still severe.
I placed a long funnel over the remaining projection on the air box. Others have cut away the front of the air box and fitted a 3" piece of plastic electrical conduit. Materials on hand where you are may vary. Perhaps something more interesting. Some of the PVC tubes can be heated and shaped to get a less lossy inlet.
If you only get .6BAR in 1st gear, I would tighten down the wastegate actuator to get more pressure in these two gears. I can get full boost in 1st. Definately cannot do WOT in 1st! The tires will not take it. Full boost in 2nd gear will spin tires if they are high performance high traction. You do need more power in these gears.
