well I realize li-ion batteries have no issue starting a car Mercedes-Benz has a li-ion battery made by A123 as OEM in some AMG models( as I mentioned) I'm no electrical engineer but the voltage matching issue has been solved(apparently) the batteries for 12v applications have quite sophisticated BMS (battery management systems) w/ quite exquisite, complex and well-evolved circuitry which is necessary as the li-ion batteries are intolerant of any abuse . the learned chemistry and electronics"boffins" (scientists, professors) are hard at work conducting research to solve and surmount the vast plethora of issues of battery technology.(I've corresponded w/ over four score of them!) It's been said we need a "Manhattan project" level size of research to optimize and develop battery technology! You may not know that the manhattan project has been said to have been one of the most expensive research and development project ever done ! 30 billion in 2012 $ dollars ?
