SO two things could have happened.
If reverse polarity it will fry the diodes and or output ICs in the power supply or output section of the radio assembly. Not something you can fix easily once the smoke is let out. Usually burns the board.
If your charger went too high of voltage as the battery was charged. (Most of the cheapies are like this. Its how the Current vs Voltage thing works.) That also will hurt the power supply of the internal boards on the radio.
Either way grab a new radio and make sure it comes with a radio code or have your local OSC look it up for you. Hopefully when you are supporting their business since the subscription to Saab/Orio isn't cheap.
