What's more likely to reduce/eliminate front and rear wheel well rubbing on a '00 Viggen with Eibach springs, Koni adjustables on front and Bilstein HDs on the back: Reverting to stock height springs or refreshing the struts and shocks that were installed but a previous owner about 12 years/60k ago?
The rubbing is frequent enough in highway driving that I can't really ignore it. Highway dips and depressions, rather than bumps and rough roads, are the issue.
Since the Eibach/Koni combo seems to be fairly common and without issue, one culprit in my setup may be be the previous owner's other modifications which included a big brake upgrade, requiring 5mm spacers to get the wheels clear of the front calipers. Pushing the 17x8 wheels (35mm offset) and 225/45 17 tires another 5mm closer to the fender might be a contributor in front but the rears rub as well and there's no spacer involved on the rears. Only thing in the back is the 8" wheels instead of stock 7-1/2".
Adjusting the Konis to their stiffest doesn't prevent rubbing. So I'm thinking reverting to the stock spring height all around is necessary. But wondering if struts/shocks could be tired and allowing more travel than when installed?
I can't see replacing the brake set up just yet so for the time being the spacers are required. Are Bilstein HDs so much stiffer than stiff Konis that they would make a difference?
This car runs and looks great lowered, but the rubbing thing can't continue.
