With insurance, I've always tried to make a point of valuing service over price, so maybe I don't pay attention as much to pricing. When I had my accident, I had Secura. They were local and always ranked well in claims settlement etc in online ranking. Obviously, that wasn't my experience so I switched. I had Acuity for awhile - another local one, and they were good. I ultimately went with State Farm when a friend started an agency and wanted to quote me. They also rate well for service and the couple times I've had claims items they were really easy to work with.
Rates will go up and go down - its rarely an insurance company being (more) greedy I've found. State Farm will wait longer to increase rates (usually 6-ish months) than most in the market based on how they re-evaluate policies, so their increases always end up late, but they are often with market in my experience.
Currently, I've got 4 of my Viggens on these policies, all about $80-$90/ 6 months:
2001 Black/ Black Viggen convertible, Saab test car, 246,000 miles, insured for $8000
2000 Lightning Blue Viggen convertible, probably the roughest condition of all of them, but clean, 140,000 miles, insured for $10,000
2000 Monte Carlo Yellow Viggen convertible, pretty clean, 138,000 miles, insured for $12,000
2000 Black/ Flame Ochre Viggen 3 door, pretty clean, 163,000 miles, insured for $14,000
I also have a 2000 Black/ Flame Ochre Viggen convertible that is being rebuilt right now, 97,000 miles, super rough now, when its done I'll probably get it for somewhere closer to $18,000 depending on the market at the time - right now I have a storage policy on it at $6000.
No minimum mileage for these, no need for fire suppression in-car, etc. Obviously, with insurance, rates are based on numerous things including your age, driving record, credit rating, region of the country, etc so everyone gets custom rates.
