When I read these posts I realize that some of us are not young anymore!

I got tires balanced and starting talking to the young service guys about performance and suspension mods. The look at me and my very grey hair and say that I don't look like someone who would be doing that sort of thing. I decided that I would tell them that I find the mechanical work fun to do on days when my arthritis is not acting up!

Yes, the balance chain is buried, and one should replace the timing chain while it is off I guess. I don't know if that got the oil pan off. These problems with the 2.3L NA engines is bugging me. I wish that we had more info on the prime cause of these things. The sludged oil seems very strange too.

There were some reports of some deficient heat treating of sprockets. So perhapss the TC and BC sprockets were affected... but why are these problems not seen very often on the turbo units? So it is still hard to tell if oil pressure is the cause or effect of chain wear. Certainly if the pressure is low and the tensioners don't, the sprockets can create dangerous forces on the chains.

Jonnny F. So the work is complete? Pls explain fully what was replaced! Do the mechanics ofter a explaination about what the cause is?
