Hi All.
Just a note to thank all of you who have helped me through a bit of a panic (thanks for putting up with me) over the past month. I had many sources of noise appearing all at once and thought that my 96 900s NA 2.3i was trying to tell me something. Well after my 125k service it told my dealer who in turn told me:

1. Engine mount shot (lots of engine movement when torqued)
2. Trannie mount shot (explained the harsh shifting feeling)
3. Center muffler had a hole in it.

I was also worried about milage and though that recent informal poll may not have convinced some that there is no such thing as average, it told me that I was in no way irregular at 19/26.

Well just to update you all, I bought the parts from cybertroll and a haynes (for what its worth) manual, and swapped out all the mounts and muffler myself and...DAMN AM I HAPPY! ABSOLUTELY *ALL* of the noises went away. I fell in love all over again, and went to the wrecker today to pick up some extra things i've been meaning to fix:

1. cracked fog light, installed new one today ($30)
2. 3 lcd stripes missing from SID, bought ($40)
3. picked up set of 2000 9-3 wheels (the 5 spoke vikings) $270 (!)

Too bad my 15" tires wont fit on the new 16" rims...I guess I will ask about tires in a separate post, but I just wanted to say thanks to all who helped me and to let you all know that here is one happy 1996 2.3i owner! Hell yes, I'm keeping it!

Tom
