First of all let's get sizing down...Where you are, you'll probably be much happier with 15" rims and either 195/60 tires or 185/65. Forget the 16" rims.
The narrower (185/65) will be better in snow and ice, while the wider (195/60) will be better on dry roads.
You can't really compare Alpins to Blizzaks... They make several Blizzaks and two different Alpins, all of which are totally different from each other.
Of the tires that are appropriate for your car, consider Michelin Pilot Alpin or Nokian NRW in 195/60 for best dry road handling and OK snow and ice.
For better snow and ice and decent dry handling, consider Michelin Arctic Alpin in either of the two sizes.
With all due respect to Dean, who is generally the man on these matters, I don't see any review of the Blizzak WS-50 which is the only Blizzak Tirerack sells for your Saab. I do, however, see how they stack up on the customer survey... (not so hot).
I live in Boston and chose the Mich. Arctic Alpins and have been very satisfied after two seasons (w/plenty of life left)
