This really needs to be done from under the vehicle.
If the vehicle has been sitting for a while, there will be zero oil loss when you remove the old switch.
With my 95SET I could see if from behind and to the right of the cat converter.
I did not have a deep socket, but a 15/16" socket worked ok, with the socket on the switch and a 4" extension inserted part way into the socket. There was room for a full size 1/2" drive. It was hard to get broken free. It is like a spark plug. Straight threads and a crush washer.
When you install, you need to crush that washer and it takes a bit of force.
As I could see it and where it went, I was able to locate it carefully and not drag any surrounding dirt into the application. Yes you should clean around it, but lying on you back with a pressure washer under the vehicle seemed less than practical. I did not think to blast it with a needle knozzle on the shop air, that would have been of some value.
You can't see it from the top, but it can be reached to access the spade connector for electrical diagnostics.
I broke open the old one and could not figure out why it was not working. The contact piece simply was no way near the contact. The internal contact area was clean and looked ok.
