Thanks for being so perspective. The brush may be very broad at times.
Although T5boost4 does affect the MAP sensor signal, using terms like rough, wild, or heavy it is not. It is more like subtle analog persuasion.
This all started when my son bought a popular ECU mod and found the supplied waste gate acuator was the only thing that increased boost. He was convinced and disappointed to find no detectable changes in ECU function. We tried, like others, various simple resistor additions to the MAP sensor circuit. Well, the T5 control is pretty smart, one of the smartest when it was introduced. It would try to 'adapt out' the effects of a resistor(s) and/or set the ECL. Based on what was learned, a very adjustable op amp transfer function circuit was built. This was tweaked, with the help of analog simulation and engine parameter readings, until the T5 was happy. The presense of T5Boost4 has to be very subtle to avoid being 'adapted out', while using adaptation parameters to provide up to a 25% increase in boost.
Having a functional proto circuit is half the battle, the other is packaging. No matter how the circuit was packaged, connectors were needed to interface with the MAP sensor. Obtaining automotive type connectors in small quantities took a lot of searching. They are available in quantities over 1000 or in bits and pieces, but lots of luck getting sets of 20. To mimimize wiring, package size, and possible EMI affects, considerable effort was spent using analog simulation and PCB layout software to reduce the circuit size to fit within the connector shells.
This started as a father - son hobby project and remains a hobby. T5Boost4 is not priced on it's part value, but on market place performace value. The fun is in the chase, not in routine aquisition and assembly of parts, testing, order handling, etc. The returns have to be sufficient to make it worth while.
