We bought a Sony 32" XBR about two years ago, it was around 2 grand. I think I've seen them for 1500 or less recently. Its not the biggest TV (nor widescreen) but at the time of purchase it was the best TV made. We also have progressive scan DVD and the clarity is awesome. The TV showcases the limitations of our DirectTV dish, its that clear. Since then the plasma/flat screens have come out, I suppose the picture is better than the XBR but at a higher price. Our Sony has two 3-component inputs so thats where the HDTV tuner will go (one day), it might have more than that now. I use one for the DVD. It has a total of 6 A/V inputs. FWIW.
