are NOT *LONG-TERM* solutions. Yes, I have seen baby seat in a Porsche 996, I kid you not. If your friend has another car for baby transport, then ok otherwise you don't want to have a coupe as the main baby transport, extra suicide doors...easy access...or not.
Sooner or later, the adults or the baby will run out of patience.
I used to have an Acura coupe with reasonable backseats. I was the one driving my then baby, toddler,...to the daycare. Yes, it was do-able, but when the baby starts throwing things or throwing up or acting up, you want better access and more room at the back.
Just to give you some data points, a friend bought a Honda CRV AND a Subaru WRX anticipating enough room for a baby seat and then some. Hey, guess what, they got tired of the cramp seating arrangement with the baby and one adult back there to keep an eye on the baby. Now they have two babies and they are runninig out of room to put baby things. They kept asking me when I would be selling them my Aero :-).
Wife and I don't like wagon or mini-van or SUV, so guess we ended up at the 9K board :-). Wife had a 9000S and I still have my Aero. We have two kids. One kid is now a teenager, wife now has 9-5 Aero. The 9000S went to our care-giver.
If it is easy to use a pseudo 4-door coupe for baby and family transport, mini-vans would not be as popular as they are now.
Tell your friend to get a regular four door sedan with reaonable back seats, there is no substitute for cubic-ft and easy access in the rear :-). Of course, there is always the three car solution !
