I've never really given it much thought, and have always opted for the cheaper gas. I can't say that I've noticed a difference in performance, as I've never run this car on anything else. I suppose it is more habit than anything, as my first car was a non-turbo 900S. I've recently experienced a few changes in my 900's engine, and some have stated that a higher octane gasoline could help remedy my problems, although I remain a bit skeptical from time to time. I'm sure I'll give it a shot and see what happens, but I'm holding my breath that gas prices will go down sometime in the not-so-distant future. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the lower octane fuel, but I wouldn't really give it a negative rating, either. I realize there are others on this board with MUCH more experience in relation to this issue than I, so hopefully there is a little more insight to be had. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
