When I got a ticket in NC I called the state bar association who was happy to refer me to a lawyer in the appropriate jurisdiction. You could also try the online yellow pages in the area too - there are always a number of lawyers that specialize in traffic cases, especially in a ticket happy place like you must have been going through.
My lawyer did well. He reduced my ticket from 92/65 to 75/65, thus no points on the license. It cost a bit, but I didn't have to appear (required if I hadn't gotten a lawyer) and I'm sure I saved a small fortune from the insurance vultures. I imagine you don't need a great attorney as it's not like they argue the case. They know the prosecutors and I imagine it as a sort of "good 'ol boy" network or what have you.
I would definitely go this route again in a similar situation. Although I now know to only speed in traffic, not on empty roads in the middle of the night. As long as I learned something right :)
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Craig
