I'm from Ohio originally and our family has had the following...

1986 Olds Calais 115hp 2.5L Iron Duke (Traded-in)
1988 Olds Calais 150hp 2.2L Quad4 (RIP at 104K miles)
1989 Olds Cutlass Supreme (Sold at 204K miles)

and we had great luck with all of them. The Calais' were perfect college cars for me, both had just enough space, just enough luxury, the cool pie-pan wheels and great fuel economy. The 2.5L sounded like a diesel at idle but smoothed out nicely, the Quad4 moved very well for its time even though it sounded like a washing machine. I miss those cars, (both of which were rear-ended) My brother had a 3.1L and that car ran smooth like a champ with only expected maintenance. Come to think of it, with some extra money and Olds Calais International Series? with the H.O. 180hp would be a fun car to have on the side.
