I shipped my Viggen from Dallas to the DC area for $600, but there I dealt directly with the Dallas dealer. I think $750 is crazy. The guy insists he's just passing the cost on to me.
I would already have bought a 9-5 Aero Wagon in 2002, in Cosmic Blue with black leather and a stick, but I am 6'6" and do not fit in an Aero. In fact, I don't fit in a 9-5 Linear wagon even without the sunroof!
It's a shame because I really wanted to stay in the Saab family. My requirements are a roomy hatch/wagon (no SUV's, hate them all) that performs well and will fit me comfortably and haul 2 keyboards, 3 amps, two guitars, stands, and related music equipment. Price: no more than $40K. The Viggen was perfect but my head hits the roof and 3 years of slouching slightly is doing a number on my neck and back. I need out, for the sake of my posture alone!
The only cars that fit the bill are a Legacy GT wagon (but no sunroof, otherwise I don't fit), Volvo V70 (I chose the R because it offers 300 hp and AWD), Mazda 6 wagon, and the Volvo V50. The Legacy was really terrific fun to drive but the seats offered me very little thigh support and the steering wheel did not telescope; the V50 was very nice but no stick until early 2005. I liked the Mazda 6 wagon's driving dynamics but wanted HID's (not available).
9-2X is too small. :( I liked the idea of the Mazda 3 5 door, but HATE the looks.
That leaves the V70R. I figure I'm getting a big fat dose of performance with my suburban hauling machine, so at least some of my youthful inclinations can be satisfied.
