Exactly, I wish people would quit badmouthing things before trying them. The funny thing is how the biases shine through. Center mounted gages aren't mentioned in some cars by the press, but in others, they are chastised. We all have gotten used to the rear-view mirror being in the center, and with the gages not behind the steering wheel, it can be adjusted to optimal position for driving comfort. Center-mounted gages have taken off in Japan and I think are quite popular in Europe as well; Americans just aren't inclined to accept new ideas.
Remember, the new 9-3 SS has a center-mounted SID!
