While I like the clean look of the dials from the pictures, and I like the fact that it reminds one of an aircraft cockpit, I'm concerned about complexity.
As an engineer, I know that the complexity of a machine is directly proportional to its tendency to fail. The more things that can go wrong do go wrong.
However, I'm a freak as given a choice between power windows and the old crank I'd choose the old crank. This goes back to when I was a teen and my dad's power window motor in his Ford Aerostar minivan went out. He had to spend hundreds to get it replaced. Such a great deal of money for such a trivial item. How hard is it to crank the window up and down? I agree it's a little more convenient for the windows other than the driver's window though.
A friend recently told me that some new cars use a single numbering system on the analog speedometer rather than having an outer ring with MPH and inner ring with KPH. Apparently the needle just scales differently depending on what measurement system you're using, using the same number ring for both. This would also produce a cleaner, simplified look on the gauges. Anyone else seen this? What cars have this?
