In 1988 my aunt baught a 1985 base 900 4door as a lease turn in. She drove it to Florida from Chicago for Christams which was the first time that I ever saw or heard of a SAAB, keep in mind that i was 4 years old at the time and aleady a car nut. When riding in the car at night, I made her drive with the interior lights on so i could stare at the ignition switch. After she moved to NY she gave the car to my grandparents who had it until 2000. I also turned 16 in 2000 and had a choice of a 1985 Olds Cutlas V8 from my other grandparents or the SAAB. I think I made the right choice and have been hooked for life (Bob Lutz willing).
Brett
PS i still have the car, but it is in storage waiting for a transmission while i drive arround in my 1996 900s convertable. Thinking of doing an SPG engine/manual tranny conversion
