I've never driven a Viggen, so I can't directly compare. The 9-5 Aero does use the same engine, but it's a bigger, heavier car.
I thought the V6 SportCombi felt slightly faster than my Aero. Some of that may have been perceptual, with less lag there's less of a "wait for the turbo" feeling (which really isn't that significant at all on the 9-5 Aero, but it's non-existent in the SportCombi).
And I thought the handling on the SportCombi was slightly better - although that may be a function of weight and size.
I was very, very impressed. My only nitpick was the 6-speed manual. I had never driven a car with a 6-speed before, and it was hard to figure out what gear to use.
