Chuck,
I too rolled my ankle over a branch and heard a "crunch", thought it was the branch that I stepped on and treated it as a sprain. Now, I'm in an ankle immobilizer a/k/a "the boot". Similarly, my tendon stayed intact but pulled the bone away resulting in a fracture. Funny thing is I was supposed to book flight tickets for a snowboarding trip to Switzerland that evening for the begining of January, now those plans are on hold..
T
BTW - doc plug - I can recommend this doctor to anyone in the tristate area seeking sports injury/ortopaedic surgery consult. His waiting room is filled with soccer jerseys and pictures of a certain young man with a doctors bag tending to injured players. He spent the earlier part of his career in europe as a very desireable team physician. If he's good enough for the German olympic team and the world cup squad; hes good enough for me. This guy is good and chock full of experience. Dr. John L. Xethalis also operated on my girlfriend, twice, two advanced ACL reconstruction surgeries, inter-knee transplants; a very complicated surgery to say the least. Not only did he fix what the previous inexperienced surgeon screwed up but she is fully recovered up and running and her knees feel fine.
