Hey all!

Just a quick networking question, as working at a Bank hasn't helped me apply my CS studies of networking from school 5 years ago.

My question is whether it is possible to setup a network between my house and the GF's apartment. We are on the same ISP, but obviously not the same location. Basically, I want to be able to access both computers via Network Places in Windows.

I have XP Pro and 2000 Pro at home networked together, and she has my laptop at her apartment running XP home. Any tips or good articles how to do this?

Do I setup a server, or can I enable file sharing to her location? Do I need to setup a VPN? I could setup a Linux box with the old PC gathering dust, but I'm not there yet.

I do know what I am doing, just need a refresher, and confirmation that what I am trying to do is possible. Thanks!
